Reusing Historic Materials for Timeless Charm
The client was inspired by the surroundings and western style ranch homes. They loved the idea of reusing old materials to make a new home look as though it had been there forever. The full timberframe with timberframe accents throughout uses historic reclaimed hardwood hand-hewn beams, the largest over 30ft long.
As no one beam was the same shape every piece has to be scribed individually to ensure a perfect fit. The structural engineer specified glulam beams for some sizes where we were unable to source old hardwood and we skillfully hand-hewed and colour matched the glulam to perfectly blend with the reclaimed timber.
This project was a proud showcase for the timber skills of our team and our sustainable values through the reclamation / recycling of the old wood.
